ABOUT

Dr. Chris Cruz-Boone has been a faculty member in higher education at both four-year and two-year institutions since 2005.  She was awarded her Masters and Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from California State University, Northridge with a minor in Women Studies.  In 2014, she completed her Doctorate in Educational Leadership and her dissertation discussed persistence of underrepresented college students.  In 2019 she was accepted as part of the Stanford EPIC Community College Faculty Fellowship.  Chris is an Associate Professor of Communication at Bakersfield Community College Delano and is a faculty lead for the Arvin Early College program.

Dr. Chris Cruz-Boone has been teaching yoga in Bakersfield since 2009.  Under the tutelage of Kathleen Rush in 2015 she completed her Iyengar Yoga Introductory II certification.  In her free time she travels throughout the United States to continue her Iyengar studies.  Her other hobbies include playing board games and sharing yoga with her students and her children.  Since utero her young daughter Inara has been practicing together with Chris and they have hosted both parent/child and youth workshops in the Kern community.  Yoga has helped Chris to heal from physical and emotional trauma and thus she feels compelled to share the gift of yoga with anyone willing to embrace its lifelong benefits.
